ANTI-NECROTIC POTENTIAL OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACT OF ZIZIPHUS TALANAI AGAINST MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE-INDUCED CYTOARCHITECTURAL ALTERATIONS IN THE BRAIN OF ALBINO MICE

Ziziphus talanai (Blanco) Merrill, locally known as the Balakat tree in Philippines, is an endemic plant reported to have therapeutic properties due its flavonoid content. Specifically, neuroprotective activities against oxidative stress mice brains been previously documented under this plant. Therefore, study investigated antinecrotic potential of Z. MSG-induced cytoarchitectural alterations mice's prefrontal cortex. Twenty (20) male albino were distributed into four treatment groups: T0 (DW alone at 0.3 mL/20 g b.w.); T- (MSG 180 mg/20 T+ (L-Taurine 0.2 b.w. and MSG T1 (Z. 0.3ml/20g b.w.). Results histological assessment cortex reveal normal histology for T0, marked with intact nucleus, prominent organized cells. Tissue architecture reveals reduction cells necrosis. groups both maintained well-stained nuclei that are comparable T0. Interestingly, cellular proliferation has noted group, which indicates possible neuronal differentiation. Overall, extract observed exert capacities mouse brain.
